Reliability

Authenticity and provenance

In the world of antiques, authenticity and provenance are crucial factors for buyers and sellers alike. Verifying the authenticity of a vintage or antique piece requires careful examination of its origin, craftsmanship, and components to ensure its genuine nature. Provenance, on the other hand, explores the documented history and ownership trail of the item, offering valuable insights into its journey and increasing its overall worth. Creating a strong system for verifying authenticity and tracing provenance builds trust and confidence among discerning customers in search of high-quality items.

We assure the genuineness of the items featured in our listings. Our business strictly refrains from dealing in counterfeit or fraudulent products. We prioritise this aspect with utmost diligence, as we are regulated and insured to instill confidence in our buyers and sellers regarding the reliability of our services.

Blenheim Auctions offers an in-house postage & packaging service for appropriate items. Each request is assessed on an individual basis to determine the best method of dispatch and relevant costs. You can request a postage quote once you receive your invoice. Our postage team will send you an updated invoice which can be paid via bank transfer. Once the lot(s) and postage fees are settled in full, we aim to dispatch items within 10 working days. This timeframe is not guaranteed. You will be provided a tracking code once available.

While items that are due to be shipped will be handled with care and packaged to the best of our ability, we do not claim to be professional packers or shippers. Great Western Auctions will not be held responsible for any claim in the event of loss or damage. We may be able to make claims via the couriers we use (Royal Mail & Parcelforce) but this is not guaranteed.

If you have a query regarding any stage of delivery or status of your item, please use the messaging function through the link provided in delivery email you have been sent.

If you would like a pre-sales quote, please submit this via whatsapp or email.

Items deemed too fragile and at risk of breakage will be rejected for postage and alternative services will be recommended in the interests of the client. Couriers will also be able to insure items that we are unable to insure.

We use Royal Mail Special Delivery (insured up to £2,500 hammer price) for smaller items under 2kg.

Larger and heavier items are sent with Parcelforce 48H within the UK. Parcelforce offer free compensation for items sent via this service up to a value of £100. Any item exceeding this value that is sent via this service is not insured. Enhanced compensation is available for certain Parcelforce services – buyers should familiarise themselves with Parcelforce’s compensation cover restrictions to ensure their item falls within this service.

A packing only service is also available. Once an item has been packed, we will provide dimensions and weight of the package(s) to the buyer so they can book a collection with their chosen courier. (by appointment only)

Collections in person maybe made by appointment only after all the lots have been concluded from the auction.

A buyers premium of 23% plus VAT at the standard rate will be added to the hammer price of each lot
